Electronic Visa for Brazilian Nationals
Overview
The process is conducted entirely online through the public portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE). If authorized, an electronic visa containing a photograph and QR code will be issued.
Important: All information must match the passport or travel identity document exactly, as both documents are electronically linked.
Validity: The visa is valid for up to 180 days and allows a single entry during that period.
Travelers must print the electronic visa or download it to an electronic device for presentation to airlines and immigration authorities.
It is highly recommended to carry a printed copy to facilitate inspections at airline counters and airport immigration filters.
Every entry into Mexican territory requires a new electronic visa.
Brazilian nationals transiting through Mexico to a third country must obtain a valid electronic visa for each entry, even if Mexico is not the final destination.
If the electronic visa is denied or cannot be processed via the portal, the traveler may apply for a visa at a Mexican consular office, following the general guidelines for the corresponding visa type.
Brazilian nationals entering Mexico by land or sea, or those entering under a different residency status, must process the appropriate visa through a Mexican consular authority.
Brazilian nationals do not need an electronic visa if they hold:
- A valid and current visa from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, or Japan.
- Proof of permanent residency in any of the above countries or in a member state of the Pacific Alliance.
Final Considerations
The issuance of an electronic visa does not guarantee entry into Mexico. Admission is subject to compliance with national entry requirements and the final determination of immigration authorities at the port of entry.
