Inauguration of direct flight Dublin - Cancun

The Embassy of Mexico is delighted to announce the inauguration of the very first direct Charter flight Dublin-Cancun, operated by Falcon Holidays and Thompson, a member of TUI Group, with the 787 Dreamliner  aircraft. At this first stage the flight will operate on a weekly basis for six weeks.

As per the Mexican Tourism Board, in 2015 the number of Irish tourists travelling to Mexico was more than 24 thousand passengers, 10.6% more than the previous year.  In per capita terms, Ireland is one of the European countries that sends more tourists to Mexico, even more than Germany, Netherlands or Italy.

The flow of tourists from Ireland to Mexico endured even during the worst of the Irish economic crisis. The impressive recovery of the Irish economy, along with the optimistic outlook for 2016 in both countries, allows us to predict that this trend will remain.

Cancun is not only one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Mexico, but also the door to Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Cozumel and the wonders of Chichen Itza and Uxmal, and an important hub with connections to major cities in Mexico, the United States, Central America and South America. That is why  this flight will appeal not only to vacationers in search of beaches, sun, culinary heritage and archaeological treasures, but also to businessmen.

The Embassy would like to acknowledge the effort of the Mexican Tourism Promotion Board with this project.

Convinced that this pilot flight has great potential, and will soon become a regular route, the Embassy of Mexico would like to extend its best wishes for the success of this flight and an enjoyable trip to all passengers who have chosen this route for their holiday this summer.
