Electronic Travel Authorization (SAE) for Mexico
Citizens of Brazil, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine traveling to Mexico for tourism or business (non-paid activities) may apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (SAE) instead of obtaining a traditional visa.
Key Terms & Validity
- Travel Method: Valid for air travel only.
- Validity Period: 180 days from the date of issuance.
- Entries: Single entry only.
- Length of Stay: Upon arrival, immigration officers may grant a stay of up to 180 days.
Visa Exemptions
You do not need an SAE or a Mexican visa if you hold a valid visa or permanent residency from any of the following countries or regions:
- United States
- Canada
- Japan
- United Kingdom
- Schengen Area
Requirements for the SAE
- Airline Participation: Confirm that your airline participates in the SAE program before booking your flight.
- Nationality: Must be a citizen of Russia, Ukraine, or Turkey.
- Valid Passport: Applicants must hold a valid passport.
- Online Application: Apply online at visaelectronica.sre.gob.mx .
Important: If your application is approved, you must print the authorization confirmation and present it at the airline check-in counter and to immigration officials upon arrival in Mexico.
Land and Sea Arrivals
The SAE is not valid for entry into Mexico by land or sea. Travelers arriving by land border or cruise ship must apply for a standard Mexican visa through the appropriate Mexican Consular Section.
