TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA

Foreigners who wish to enter and remain in Mexico as temporary residents without permission to perform remunerated activities, for a period of more than 180 days and less than 4 years, must comply with the following requirements:


1. Application form, duly filled with a handwritten signature. (https://embamex.sre.gob.mx/indonesia/images/solicitudes/Visa_Application_Form_2024.pdf)

2. Passport with a validity of more than 6 months, original and copy;

3. Proof of legal stay in Indonesia:


A. For Indonesian: Kartu Tanda Penduduk (KTP), original and copy
B. For foreigners: Temporary Resident Card (ITAS), original and copy; or

                          Permanent Resident Card (ITAP), original and copy.


4. One recent color picture  (3cm ×4cm, full white background (light blue or gray are not acceptable), without glasses nor contact lenses, front view. Please make sure that any hair is not covering your forehead nor ears.

5. Pay the fee of 53 USD (which will be paid on the day informed by the consular officer). Further information will be provided after complying with the requirements.

6. Please submit one of following documents A, B or C.


A. One of the following economic solvency documents:

1. Bank statement, separated by month, with a monthly average balance of more than USD 73,000 approx.- per month, during last 12 months, stamped and signed by the bank officers. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 12 months). Original and copy.

- If the bank statements do not any contain information of the amount of monthly average balance, a monthly average balance statement letter issued by the bank (in original) is required.

- Original bank reference letter in English, that contains your information and confirms that you hold an account in this bank. It is also necessary to provide a contact number of the Bank.
NOTE: if the appointment is to be held on the next month, you would need to update the bank statement and letter.



2. Document that proves employment or pension monthly income with the amount of at least USD 4,600 approx.- per month, during last 6 months. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 6 months). Original and copy. You can check here an example of letter of employment.

B. Invitation letter

1. Original letter (in English or Spanish) from the company that is inviting the applicant to participate in a non-remunerated activity in Mexico and which will be responsible for the applicant's expenses during their stay. The invitation letter must contain the points as follow with a handwritten signature and inked stamp:

i. Complete name and nationality of the applicant (Nombre complete del solicitante y nacionalidad);
ii. Name of the inviting company (Denominación o razón social de la organización);
iii. Official registration number of the inviting company (Número de registro oficial, según corresponda);
iv. Object of the inviting company: a brief explanation of what the company does (Objeto de la organización);
v. Complete address and contact person of the company (Domicilio completo y datos de contacto de la organización);
vi. Information regarding the activity that the applicant is invited to participate (Información sobre la actividad que realizará la persona extranjera);
vii. An approximated period of time of the activity that will be held (Duración estimada o fecha aproximada de terminación de la actividad que realizará);
viii. Commitment that the company will be a joint and several liability of the expenses during the applicant’s stay in Mexico and return to country of origin (La manifestación de la responsabilidad solidaria para la manutención de la persona extranjera durante su estancia en México y de su retorno a su país de origen o de residencia);
ix. Copy of the official identification of the person who signed the letter, it must contain a photograph and signature (Copia de identificación oficial con firma y fotografía de quien suscriba la carta responsiva).

2. Bank statement, separated by month, with an average monthly balance of more than USD 145,700 approx. per month, during last 12 months, stamped and signed by the bank officers. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 12 months). Original and copy.

- If the bank statements do not any contain information of the amount of monthly average balance, a monthly average balance statement letter issued by the bank (in original) is required.

- Original bank reference letter in English, that contains your information and confirms that you hold an account in this bank. It is also necessary to provide a contact number of the Bank.
NOTE: if the appointment is to be held on the next month, you would need to update the bank statement and letter.

3. Proof that the person has experience, abilities, or enough knowledge to develop the activities contained in the letter of invitation. It could be a letter of the company where you currently work, the letter must explain your working experience in Spanish or English. The letter must be original and accompanied by a copy of the ID of the person that is signing the letter (Documentos con los que la persona extranjera acredite que cuenta con la experiencia, capacidad, habilidades o conocimientos necesarios para desarrollar la actividad para la cual es invitado, en original y copia, junto con la copia de identificación oficial con firma y fotografía de quien suscriba la carta responsiva).

4. In case the inviting company does not cover the expenses, submit one of the following documents:

i. Personal bank statement, separated by month, with a monthly average balance of more than USD 73,000 aprox. per month, during last 12 months, stamped and signed by the bank officers. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 12 months). Original and copy.

- If the bank statements do not any contain information of the amount of monthly average balance, a monthly average balance statement letter issued by the bank (in original) is required.

- Original bank reference letter in English, that contains your information and confirms that you hold an account in this bank. It is also necessary to provide a contact number of the Bank.
NOTE: if the appointment is to be held on the next month, you would need to update the bank statement and letter.

ii. Document that proves employment or pension monthly income with the amount of at least USD 3,200 approx.- per month, during last 6 months. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 6 months). Original and copy. You can check here an example of letter of employment.


C. Family Unity

Family Unity Applications may only be accepted at a Consular Office if the foreigner with temporary or permanent resident status in Mexico or Mexican citizen accompanies the family member during the visa application process.

Please choose one of the following options:

1. Family ties with a temporary resident

a. Submit one of the following documents as evidence of the relationship between applicant and temporary resident:

i. Spouse or concubinage partner: marriage certificate or concubinage certificate, original and copy; or
ii. Son or daughter: birth certificate of the child, original and copy; or
iii. Parents: birth certificate of the applicant (minors), original and copy; or
iv. Child of the spouse or concubinage partner: applicant’s birth certificate and marriage certificate or concubinage certificate, original and copy.

b. Valid temporary resident card or visa, original and copy;

c. Submit one of the following documents of economic solvency to support each of the family member(s):

i. Original bank statement, separated by month, with an average monthly balance of more than USD 1,650 approx. per month, during last 12 months, stamped and signed by the bank officers. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 12 months). Original and copy.

- If the bank statements do not any contain information of the amount of monthly average balance, a monthly average balance statement letter issued by the bank (in original) is required.

- Original bank reference letter in English, that contains your information and confirms that you hold an account in this bank. It is also necessary to provide a contact number of the Bank.

ii. Document that proves employment or pension monthly income with the amount of at least USD 1,650 approx.- per month, during last 6 months. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 6 months). Original and copy. You can check here an example of letter of employment.

2. Marriage or concubinage relationship with a Permanent resident

a. Marriage certificate or concubinage certificate or equivalent, original and copy;
b. Valid permanent resident card or visa, original and copy;
c. Submit one of the following documents of economic solvency to support the spouse or concubinage partner:

i. Original bank statement, separated by month, with an average monthly balance of more than USD 1,650 approx. per month, during last 12 months, stamped and signed by the bank officers. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 12 months). Original and copy.

- If the bank statements do not any contain information of the amount of monthly average balance, a monthly average balance statement letter issued by the bank (in original) is required.

- Original bank reference letter in English, that contains your information and confirms that you hold an account in this bank. It is also necessary to provide a contact number of the Bank.
NOTE: if the appointment is to be held on the next month, you would need to update the bank statement and letter.


ii. Document that proves employment or pension monthly income with the amount of at least USD 1,650 approx.- per month, during last 6 months. (The month that you apply for the visa is not counted in the 6 months). Original and copy. You can check here an example of letter of employment.

3. Marriage or concubinage relationship with a Mexican:

a. Marriage certificate or concubinage certificate or equivalent, original and copy; and,
b. Document proving Mexican nationality, original and copy.

2. The Consul may ask you for further supporting documents if needed.
3. We would suggest you to start sending your documents at least 2 weeks before your trip in order to avoid any inconveniences. We also do not recommend you to purchase the flight tickets yet until you finish with the visa application process.
4. The issuance of your visa does not guarantee your entrance to Mexico as the immigration officers will determine whether to authorize or deny your entry to Mexico after and interview.

5.Any document that is not issued in Indonesia must be notarized and apostilled or legalized by the issuing country.

6. Foreigners who wish to travel to Mexico to conduct remunerated activities must invariably have an offer of employment. The Mexican institution or person who intends to employ the foreigner must submit the visa application directly to the National Migration Institute in Mexico (INM). The Embassy can only issue a visa if it has been authorized by the INM.
