In order to improve our customer service for Mexicans and foreigners concerning the consular services, we have the honor to inform that for the procedures of passport and visa applications, legalizations, certificates, civil registry, issuance of powers of attorney, Mexican military service cards and Mexican voting cards for Mexicans living abroad, a prior appointment must be obtained through the appointment scheduling system of MEXITEL.

EU CITIZENS: EU citizens are exempt from obtaining visa for tourism purposes to Mexico.

The conditions of stay for tourists are the following:

Valid passport for the whole length of stay

Up to 180 days within one year

Return flight ticket

When entering Mexico, all travelers have to fill in a form, sometimes called as „tourist card” that can only be obtained at the entry to the country.

When entering Mexican border, the traveler can be occasionally asked to prove economic solvency for the entire length of his or her stay in Mexico. For this reason it is recommended to have a bank certificate/payroll certificate/invitation letter on the traveler.

All foreigners entering Mexico have to pay a single entry fee (derecho de no inmigrante-DNI) of 294 Mexican pesos (approx. 22,5 USD). This fee is usually included into the flight ticket's price with all other taxes.

OTHER CITIZENS: Citizens of the following countries must obtain visa to travel to Mexico as tourists. Citizens of Ukraine and the Russian Federation can request electronic visa in certain cases, find information here.

MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

All original documents must be presented at the personal appointment. Issuance fee is 36 USD that you need to pay in HUF to the bank account of the Consular Section whose details you are provided during your appointment.

  1. Valid passport. It must be valid for your entire length of stay in Mexico. 
  2. Duly filled application form (see above)
  3. 1 recent, colored photograph of 3,5x4 cms size: frontal view, white background, uncovered face, without glasses.
  4. Round trip air tickets and/or Hotel reservation.
  5. Bank certificate or statement from the employer showing an average 760 USD incomes per month in a six-month period.
  6. One of the following documents:
  • Work certificate given by the company in which the applicant works, including data about the monthly salary.
  • In case of ownership of a company, the original and a photocopy of the registry document must be brought as well.
  • In case of university students, their certificate of studies
  • Certificate of property of real state, duly registered on the name of the person submitting the application.

Families: only one document of economic solvency is needed, but you must prove your family status (spouse, children, or parents) with the correspondent documents: birth certificate and/or marriage certificate and provide solvency of an extra 15% of your income per person.

Upon your arrival to Mexico the immigration authorities at the point of your entry can ask you some questions in order to check all the above requirements and authorize your entrance to the country.

There, you will need to set up an account and choose the most suitable time for your appointment at the Consular Section of the Embassy (it’s recommended that you use the web browser Google Chrome when booking your appointment). Once you have booked your appointment, the system will generate a confirmation letter, which you must bring with you to the Embassy on the day of your appointment. Said letter will also be emailed to the email account you provided.

Please take note that, if you wish to reschedule for a more convenient date or time, or if you miss your appointment, you will need to request a new one following the same procedure.

Once your appointment has been confirmed, you will need to fulfill the following requirements. Please note that all documents are subject to verification and have to be presented in both in original and copy:

  1. Please be informed that according with new Government regulations, as of January 1st, 2018, visa applications at the Embassy of Mexico will have a non-refundable equivalent charge of € 36.00 in local currency (Hungarian forint) that must be deposited directly to the Embassy’s Account.
  2. Present personally the visa application form (attached) dully filled and signed, since your biometric information (picture and fingerprints) is required. It is not possible to present your documents via courier or a third party.
  3. Present a valid passport, with at least 6 months left before its expiry date. If you are not a European citizen or Schengen Territory you will also need to provide evidence of your legal entry into Hungary, or of your legal residence in the country.
  4. Bring with you one (1) passport sized color picture, with the following characteristics: front face, without glasses, and a white background.
  5. Original and copy of the acceptance letter from an institution belonging to the National Education System (Sistema Educativo Nacional) for the intention to do studies, courses, or projects for investigative, academic or professional purposes. The letter should specify the following information:
  • Full name of the applicant (as it appears in the passport);
  • Level, degree and area of ​​study that the applicant intends to perform;
  • Name of the course in which it has been accepted;
  • Start date and end of the course;
  • Cost of registration for the course (registration and tuition), if there is no cost, it must be specified.
  • Contact and identification data of the educational institution

In the case of the Educational Centers and / or private universities, present the number and / or proof of the Registry before the Secretariat of Public Education of Mexico.

Copy of the Official Identification of the signer (s) of the letter (s) from the educative institutions

  1. Provide evidence of adequate economic solvency to cover the study program and living expenses during the duration of the stay:

For studies under 6 months:

  • Documents accounting for an employment, pension allowance or scholarship with a monthly income equivalent to minimum € 500.00 , free of taxes, during the last 3 months, or,
  • Investment documents or bank accounts with a monthly average balance equivalent to € 750.00 during the last 3 months, or,
  • If the applicant is less than 25 years old, his parents or legal guardian can present the evidence of economic solvency.

For studies of more than 6 months:

  • Documents accounting for an employment, pension allowance or scholarship with a monthly income equivalent to minimum $500.00 USD, free of taxes, during the last 3 months, or,
  • Investment documents or bank accounts with a monthly average balance equivalent to € 5,000 during the last 3 months, or,
  • If the applicant is less than 25 years old, his parents or legal guardian can present the evidence of economic solvency.
  1. Take part in a consular interview.

Usually, if the above mentioned requirements are fulfilled and no force majeure impediment arises, in particular the availability of the internet service, the visa is issued the same day it’s requested.

Minors. Children under 18 years have to present their birth certificate and have to be accompanied by either both parents or their legal guardians, or present a notarized authorization from them to travel to Mexico (applies also for minors travelling alone). When travelling with single parents, widows or divorcees, the corresponding documents should be presented.

IMPORTANT: You are only allowed to work in Mexico if you count with a valid work visa! You can obtain a work visa only at the foreign representations of Mexico, it is not possible to enter Mexico as a tourist and change your migratory status there.

MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

The basic fee for work visa is 36 USD up to a 180-day stay in Mexico. In case the professional activity lasts longer than 180 days and/or the Mexican party is covering the employment related costs, further fees are applicable upon arrival to Mexico. ( 210 USD if the stay is no longer than 180 days but the Mexican party is covering the employment related costs and 279 USD if the stay exceeds 180, independently who is covering the employment related costs.)

The basic fee is always payable in HUF to the bank account of the Consular Section whose details the applicant will receive during the appointment. If all submitted documents are in order, the visa is issued on the same day of the appointment.

Required documents:

1. Valid passport. It must be valid for your entire length of stay in Mexico. 

2. Duly filled pplication form (see above)

3. 1 recent, colored photograph of 3,5x4 cms size: frontal view, white background, uncovered face, without glasses.

4. Letter from the company, institution or organization (sending you and/or inviting you to Mexico) explaining:

  • purpose of the trip,
  • main destination and length of stay,
  • the title of the job the applicant will fulfill,
  • the sum of the salary the applicant will receive.
  • Please specify who will pay the expenses, and if the applicant will receive salary from the Mexican part.
  • The letter must contain official heading, stamp and signature of the company.

5. Round trip airplane and hotel reservation.

All original documents must be presented at the personal appointment.

PLEASE NOTE: In case the costs related to your employment are covered by the Mexican party, the visa application procedure must start in Mexico with the National Migration Office (Instituto Nacional de Migración, www.inm.gob.mx). This procedure requires 30 working days, at the end of which you will receive an authorization number. You have to submit this authorization number at this Embassy so that we can issue you the visa to your passport.

If you wish to stay in Mexico for more than 90 days to start your business, you will have to obtain a visa.

On the date of your appointment it is required to bring the originals of the required documents to the Embassy for issuing you the visa.

1. Valid passport. It must be valid for your entire length of stay in Mexico. 

2. Duly filled pplication form (see above)

3. 1 recent, colored photograph of 3,5x4 cms size: frontal view, white background, uncovered face, without glasses.

5. One of the next documents:

  • Official letter from the company who is sending you to do investment in Mexico, describing the nature of investment with official letter from the sending company who proves to cover the applicant’s cost during his stay in Mexico.
  • Official invitation from the part of the Chamber of Commerce in Mexico or any kind of business enterprise, financial institution, interest group that invites you to do investment in Mexico
  • If the investment has been already registered in Mexico, a certificate of registry from the Registro Nacional de Inversiones Extranjeras or a proof of the minimum sum of investment required
  • In the case of purchasing, the copy of the contract, or the document from a financial institution that provides credit for the purchase
  • Decision of the sending company, regarding the mandate of the applicant to do investment in Mexico and proof of covering the applicant’s cost during his stay in Mexico.

5. Round trip air tickets and Hotel reservation.

We call family unification when a foreign citizen wishes to stay in Mexico for more than 180 days with his or her family member of Mexican citizenship or with a family member of other citizenship who count with a valid residence permit in Mexico.

Only in case of family unification you are able to enter Mexico as a tourist and change your migratory status to temporary resident. You can apply for such a change at the National Migration Institute in Mexico (Instituto Nacional de Migración, www.inm.gob.mx).

If a foreign citizen is applying for a work visa at the Consular Section of this Embassy, family members can also apply for the family unification visa during the same process. Each family member needs to present the duly filled application form, passport, photo and prove economic solvency and family ties (with birth or marriage certificate) on the date of their appointment.

On the date of your appointment it is required to bring the originals of the required documents to the Embassy for issuing you the visa.

Required documents:

  • Duly filled Application Form (see above)
  • Valid passport, for at least 6 months from intended date of entry.
  • Signed letter of authorization from Mexico’s National Immigration Institute with the NUT (If you have any).
  • Passport of the person requiring the Mexican Temporary Residence Visa for Family Unification.
  • Original Marriage Certificate apostilled by the proper national authority of the country where the wedding took place with an official translation to Spanish.
  • Original Birth Certificate of the son/daughter apostilled by the proper national authority of the country where the child/children was /were bornwith an official translation to Spanish.
  • Return airline itinerary.
  • Mexican passport or permanent/temporary legal residence permit in Mexico of the relative.
  • One color passport size photograph (minimum size 3.2 cm x 26.0 cm; maximum size 3.9 cm x 3.1 cm; white background, no eye glasses).
  • Original and photocopy of the following documents: National ID; any former Mexican visa; any valid visa from other country; marriage certificate, if required.
