Del 12 al 16 de junio, el galardonado director y productor de cine mexicano Alfonso Cuarón fue uno de los invitados especiales en el afamado “Midnight Sun Film Festival”, que se organiza anualmente en la ciudad de Sodankylä, en la Laponia finlandesa donde durante el verano nunca se pone el sol.
Cuarón tuvo una destacada participación con diversas sesiones de preguntas y respuestas al término de la proyección de cuatro de sus más famosas películas, subtituladas al finés y al sueco para la ocasión: Y tú mamá también, Children of Men, Gravity y Roma. Además, participó en un conservatorio con el reconocido director artístico finlandés Timo Malmi, el sábado 15 de junio.
El Midnight Sun Film Festival fue fundado en 1986 por el municipio de Sodankylä y los destacados cineastas finlandeses Anssi Mänttäri, Aki Kaurismäki y Mika Kaurismäki. Se ha convertido en el mayor evento cultural del norte de Finlandia y uno de los eventos cinematográficos más famosos del mundo, con la participación de más de 35 mil personas.
From June 12 to 16, the award-winning Mexican film director and producer Alfonso Cuarón was one of the special guests at the famous “Midnight Sun Film Festival”, which is organized annually in the town of Sodankylä, in Finnish Lapland where during the summer the sun never sets.
Cuarón had an outstanding participation with various Q&A sessions at the end of the screening of four of his most famous films, subtitled in Finnish and Swedish for the occasion: Y tú mamá también, Children of Men, Gravity and Roma. In addition, he participated in a talk with the renowned Finnish artistic director Timo Malmi, on Saturday, June 15.
The Midnight Sun Film Festival was founded in 1986 by the municipality of Sodankylä and prominent Finnish filmmakers Anssi Mänttäri, Aki Kaurismäki and Mika Kaurismäki. It has become the largest cultural event in northern Finland and one of the most famous film events in the world, with the participation of more than 35 thousand people.

La Embajada de México y el Instituto Nacional Audiovisual de Finlandia (KAVI) organizaron una charla sobre cine mexicano con Olaf Möller, curador del ciclo de películas de la Época de Oro del Cine mexicano (1940-1960), presentada en el cine Kino Regina entre marzo y junio de 2024.
Olaf Möller es profesor adjunto del Departamento de Cine, Televisión y Escenografía de la Universidad de Aalto. Ha publicado artículos sobre cine, enfocados en diversos periodos y países, incluyendo a México. Möller también fue curador de la retrospectiva de cine mexicano (1940-1960), presentada en el Festival de Cine de Locarno en 2023, que posteriormente fue proyectada en el Kino Regina (Helsinki), entre los meses de marzo y junio de 2024.
Olaf Möller is an Adjunct Professor of the Department of Film, Television and Scenography at Aalto University. He has published articles about cinema in different periods and countries, including Mexico. Möller is also the curator of the Mexican popular film retrospective (1940-1960) presented in the Locarno Film Festival in 2023, that was screened at Kino Regina between March and June 2024.
