The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expresses its regret regarding the incident in the Big Bend area of Texas in which U.S. Border Patrol Agent Rogelio Martínez lost his life, while his partner was seriously injured. 


The Government of Mexico expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Agent Martínez and hopes the injured agent makes a swift recovery.


The Government of Mexico condemns violence and expresses its absolute willingness to collaborate with officials from the United States Department of Homeland Security if necessary.


On instructions from the Foreign Ministry, the Ambassador of Mexico to the United States, Gerónimo Gutiérrez, will speak will the appropriate officials today to reiterate our condolences and extend the aforementioned offer of collaboration.
