The Embassy of Mexico in the United States expresses its profound appreciation to the House Foreign Affairs Committee for passing H. Res. 336 "Reaffirming a strong commitment to the United States-Mexico partnership" this afternoon, as well as its appreciation to ranking member Eliot Engel (D-NY), and to the Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Michael McCaul (R-TX), for their leadership in the effort to underscore the strategic importance of the bilateral relationship.
The initiative highlights the strong culgural ties and vales Mexico and the United States share, as well as the advances and achievments our cooperative efforts have had in security, the economiy and in the fight against drug trafficking. Additionally, the resolution recognizes the diplomatic cooperation of Mexico in the United Nations and our role as a leader in the Organization of American States (OAS). The resolution's approval after receiving bipartisan support, reflects the committee's view of the importance of our relationship.
The Government of Mexico supports these types of declarations intended to strengthen the relationship between our two nations and develop a base upon which to constructively address the challenges we face as neighbors and partners.
