Mexico City, July 14, 2016
The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Claudia Ruiz Massieu, met today with the former United States Treasurer, Rosie Ríos.
The meeting took place in the context of the strategic outreach in which the Government of Mexico is engaged with prominent Mexican-Americans.
The meeting affirms the ties of friendship and strategic efforts of the Foreign Ministry with the Mexican diaspora, which the Ministry has developed systematically for more than 25 years through programs that specifically target that population.
Secretary Ruiz Massieu first met with Rosie Ríos late last year when the then Treasurer traveled to Mexico City to participate in the Mexico Summit.
The career of Rosie Ríos, who has broad experience in the public sector, is a clear example of the significant contributions the population of Mexican origin makes to the United States.
