The Government of Mexico deeply laments the events which occurred at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida and categorically condemns any act of violence against innocent persons.

The Government of Mexico expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims. From the moment we became aware of the tragedy, we instructed the Consulate of Mexico in Orlando to be alert to developments in the investigations in order to identify Mexican nationals who may have been affected by this tragic event and provide them with the appropriate consular assistance. 

Through the work of the consular representation with different authorities involved in the investigation, we received information that Mexican national Javier Nava Coria, originally from Mexico City, was wounded and is currently in stable condition in the hospital. The Consul of Mexico visited him in order to assess his condition and offer him assistance.

Federal and local authorities are working to identify all the victims. The government of Mexico and our consulate in Orlando will make known additional information regarding other Mexicans affected by the incident once that information has been confirmed by the aforementioned authorities.

Mexico reiterates its solidarity with the families affected and with the people of the United States.
