Description of this procedure
Applicable to foreign nationals who intend to enter Mexico and hold a diplomatic, official, service passport, or Laissez-Passer.
Who is it for?
- Ethiopian or foreign nationals who hold a diplomatic, official, or service passport and require a visa to enter Mexico.
- Ethiopian or foreign nationals who hold a diplomatic, official, or service passport and will be accredited to an Embassy or a Mission of an International Organization in Mexico.
Requirements:
1. Original and one simple copy of a valid diplomatic, official, service passport, or Laissez-Passer.
2. Completed visa application form. The form can be downloaded by clicking on this link.
3. One recent photograph (taken within the last 30 days), in color, passport-size, with a white background, facing the camera, with the face clearly visible and without eyeglasses. The photograph must measure at least 32.0 mm x 26.0 mm and no more than 39.0 mm x 31.0 mm.
4a. Verbal Note from the Embassy or Mission of an International Organization accredited in Spain, addressed to the Embassy of Mexico in Spain, in the case of an official assignment or private visit of less than 90 days; or
4b. Verbal Note from the Embassy in Mexico of the relevant State or International Organization, addressed to the Directorate General for Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, in the case of accreditation to an Embassy or Mission of an International Organization in Mexico.

Processing time:
Up to one business day when the application concerns an official assignment or a private visit of less than 90 days.
In the case of a diplomatic or official visa for a person who will be accredited to an Embassy or Mission of an International Organization in Mexico, processing time depends on the date on which authorization is received from the Directorate General for Protocol. Once the authorization has been received, the visa will be issued within one business day.

Applicants are advised to verify whether their nationality is exempt from or subject to a diplomatic or official visa requirement. This information can be consulted by clicking on this link.
Please note that a holder of a diplomatic or official visa who will be assigned to an Embassy or Mission in Mexico has 30 calendar days from the date of entry into Mexico to obtain accreditation before the Directorate General for Protocol of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Directorate General for Protocol will issue the accreditation card and a new visa valid for the corresponding period and allowing multiple entries.
