Ciudadanos de los Estados Unidos, no necesitan una visa para viajar a México. Sin embargo, necesitan una tarjeta de turista, la cual puede ser obtenida en nuestros Consulados, en vuelos directos a México o en el aeropuerto, así mismo ellos deben de viajar con lo siguiente:
- Pasaporte válido o una prueba de ciudadanía, (acta de nacimiento original o un certificado de ciudadanía con foto) y una identificación con fotografía.
- Boleto redondo
- Prueba de solvencia económica (tarjeta de crédito, cheques de viajero, etc.)
Por favor tome nota que todos los extranjeros que visitan México, deben de pagar un impuesto (derecho de no inmigrante). Cuando viajan en avión, este impuesto de 20 US está incluído en el boleto. Si vajan por auto, esté será cobrado en la frontera.
Mujeres casadas
Si viajan con el acta de nacimiento y una identificación que muestre diferentes apellidos, (el apellido de soltera y el de casada), el certificado de matrimonio debe de ser usado para dar sustento legal al cambio de nombre.
Por favor note: el agente de migración en la puerta de entrada pudiera requerir que el turista demuestre el boleto de regreso y prueba de solvencia económica (tarjeta de crédito, cheques de viajero, etc.) para cubrir sus gastos en México.
Un chequeo de registro criminal (police clearance) no es requerido. Sin embargo las Leyes Migratorias Mexicanas, establecen que los oficiales de migración, pueden negar la entrada a cualquiera que tenga un antecedente criminal.
El período máximo en el que un ciudadano de USA puede estar en México es seis meses, el agente de migración, determinará el período exacto para cada turista, hasta un maximo de 6 meses.
Extensiones deben de ser requeridas en el Instituto Nacional de Migración de la Secretaría de Gobernación, en sus oficinas locales dentro de la República, pagando la tarifa de el equivalente de $20.00US.
Citizens from the United States do not require a visa. However, they do need a tourist card, which may be obtained at Mexican consulates, on direct flights to Mexico or at the Mexican airport, and they must travel with the following:
· Valid passport or proof citizenship such as an original birth certificate and a photo ID or citizenship certificate with photo ID card
· Round trip tickets
· Proof of economic solvency (credit card, traveller's cheques, etc.)

Married women
When travelling with a birth certificate and a photo ID that show different last names (maiden name and married name), the marriage certificate may be used to provide legal support for the change of name.
Please note: immigration officers at the port of entry may request that the tourist show a return ticket and proof of economic solvency (credit card, traveller's cheques, etc.) to cover expenses in Mexico.
A criminal record check (police clearance) is not required. However, Mexican migratory law states that immigration officers may deny entry to anyone with a criminal record.
The maximum period for which American citizens may stay in Mexico is six months; the immigration officer at the port of entry will determine the exact authorized period for each tourist, up to a maximum of six months.

Extensions must be requested at the National Institute of Migration of the Ministry of the Interior or its local offices within the Republic, by paying the application fee of the equivalent of US$20.00.
