This visa is issued due to the theft, loss, or destruction of a Mexican card proving legal status in Mexico.

 


Who is it for?

Foreign nationals who have had their Mexican visitor, temporary or permanent resident card stolen, lost, or destroyed while outside of Mexico.

 


Requirements

  1. Valid passport (original + simple copy).
  2. Visa application form: (PDF anexo).
  3. One recent passport-size photograph, colour, white background, no glasses (not older than 30 days).
  4. Probatory documents:
    • 4a. Original police report filed with the competent authority in the jurisdiction where the theft, loss, or destruction of the visa card occurred.
    • 4b. Original visa card, in case of partial destruction.

 


Application Procedure

  1. Prepare all required documents.
  2. Schedule an appointment through the official system: https://citas.sre.gob.mx. Select the option: “VISAS”.
  3. Attend the appointment in person with all documents and complete the consular interview.
    Payment is made on the day of the appointment, preferably by transfer.

  4. Processing Time and Completion:
    • Once the foreign national submits the application, the consular office consults with the National Institute of Migration (INM) within up to two business days regarding the eligibility and terms for issuing the visa.
    • The INM must respond within a maximum of five business days.
    • Once authorization is received from the INM, the Consular Section issues the corresponding visa and notifies the applicant to complete the process.
    • The process concludes with the delivery of the visa, which is stamped in your passport.

  • Visa must be used within 180 days from issuance.
  • Once in Mexico, you must apply for the new immigration card at Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) within 30 days of your arrival.
  • The visa does not guarantee entry into Mexico; final admission is determined by immigration authorities at the port of entry.
  • For minors, both parents must sign the application or provide notarized consent.
  • Documents issued outside Belgium or Mexico must be apostilled or legalized and include a simple Spanish translation if necessary.
  • Airline tickets or travel reservations are not required and do not influence visa approval.

Diplomatic or Official Visa

 

This visa is granted to foreign nationals who intend to enter Mexico and hold a diplomatic, official, or service passport.

 


Who is it for?

Foreign nationals who hold a diplomatic, official, or service passport and require a visa to enter Mexico.

Foreign nationals who hold a diplomatic, official, or service passport and will be accredited at an Embassy or Mission of an International Organization in Mexico.

 

 


Requirements

  1. Valid passport (original + simple copy).

  3. One recent passport-size photograph, colour, white background, no glasses (not older than 30 days).
  4. 4a. Note verbale from an Embassy or Mission of an International Organization accredited in Belgium addressed to the Embassy of Mexico in Brussels (for official commissions or private visits of less than 90 days), or

    4b. Note verbale from the Embassy in Mexico of the corresponding State or international organization, addressed to the Directorate General of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico (for accreditation to an Embassy or Mission of an International Organization in Mexico).

Important Considerations

• This procedure is free of charge

• Processing time: Up to one business day for official business trips or private visits of less than 90 days. For diplomatic or official visas for individuals accredited to an Embassy or Mission of an International Organization in Mexico, the processing time depends on the date the authorization is received from the Directorate General of Protocol. Once received, the visa is issued within one business day.

• The Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes on its website the regulations applicable to holders of diplomatic, official, or service passports. It is recommended that you check whether your nationality is exempt from a diplomatic or official visa.

• Please note that holders of diplomatic or official visas who will be assigned to an Embassy or Mission in Mexico have 30 calendar days from their entry into Mexican territory to register with the Directorate General of Protocol of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Directorate General will then issue an accreditation card and a new visa for the corresponding period, allowing multiple entries.

Permanent Resident Visa based on family unity

 

This visa allows permanent residency in Mexico without permission to engage in paid employment.

Who is this for?

Foreign nationals who have a family relationship with a Mexican citizen or with a foreign national who is a permanent resident of Mexico (or holds a Mexican visa with that immigration status).

It is important to note that when submitting the visa application at the consular office, the applicant must be accompanied by the Mexican family member or the temporary/permanent resident.

 


Requirements

  1. Valid passport (original + simple copy).
  2. Visa application form:(PDF anexo)
  3. One recent passport-size photograph, colour, white background, no glasses (not older than 30 days).
  4. If you are not a Belgian national: Provide the original and a simple copy of the document proving legal stay in Belgium (visa or residence permit).
  5. Submit the documentation that proves the situation applicable to your particular case:

    5.1 Relationship with a Mexican Citizen:
  1. If the applicant has a Mexican child, they must submit the child's Mexican birth certificate, in original or certified copy; or
  2. If the applicant has a Mexican parent, provided they are a child or adolescent and do not have the right to Mexican nationality, are unmarried, or are under legal guardianship and under their legal representation, they must submit the applicant's birth certificate, in original or certified copy; or
  3. If the applicant is the child of the spouse or partner of a Mexican citizen, provided they are a child or adolescent and are unmarried or under legal guardianship and under their legal representation, they must submit:
    - The applicant's birth certificate, in original or certified copy; and
    - The marriage certificate or document proving cohabitation or equivalent status with the Mexican citizen, in accordance with the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was performed, in original or certified copy; or
  4. If the applicant is a brother or sister of a Mexican citizen, they must submit the applicant's and their brother's or sister's birth certificates, in original or certified copy; and
    - Document proving Mexican nationality, pursuant to Article 3 of the Nationality Law, in original or certified copy.

    5.2 Relationship with a foreign national holding a Permanent Resident Visa:
  1. If the applicant has a foreign child holding a Permanent Resident Visa, they must submit the child's birth certificate, in original or certified copy; or
  2. If the applicant has a foreign parent holding a Permanent Resident Visa, provided that the applicant is a child or adolescent and is unmarried or legally incapacitated and under their legal guardianship, they must submit the applicant's birth certificate, in original or certified copy;
  3. If the applicant is the child of the spouse, partner, or equivalent of a foreign national holding a Permanent Resident Visa, they must submit:
    - Original or certified copy of the applicant's birth certificate; and
    - Original or certified copy of the marriage certificate or document proving the common-law relationship or equivalent status with the foreign national holding a Permanent Resident Visa, in accordance with the applicable laws of the country where the marriage took place; or
  4. If the applicant is the sibling of a foreign national holding a Permanent Resident Visa, provided the applicant is a child or adolescent and has not married or is under legal guardianship and is under their legal representation, they must submit original or certified copies of the applicant's and their sibling's birth certificates;

    For all cases a), b), or c) of section 5.2, the following documentation must be also submitted:
    - Original and valid Permanent Resident Visa, and
    - Proof of sufficient funds to support each family member during their stay in the country, with one of the following options:
  1. Original or electronic document with digital certificate proving investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance equivalent to 220 days in UMA (approximately €1,230, depending on the exchange rate on the day of application), for the last twelve months. These must be monthly bank statements, not semi-annual or annual reports.
  2. Original documents proving employment or a pension with monthly income, free of taxes, exceeding the equivalent of 220 UMA (approximately €1,230, depending on the exchange rate on the day of application), for the last six months. These must be monthly bank statements, not semi-annual or annual reports.

    5.3 Relationship with a foreign national with Permanent Resident Status (holder of a Permanent Resident Card provided by Instituto Nacional de Migración-INM):
  1. If the applicant has a foreign child with Permanent Resident Status, they must submit the child's birth certificate, either original or certified copy; or
  2. If the applicant has a foreign father or mother with Permanent Resident Status, provided that the person is a child or adolescent and has not married or is under guardianship and is under their legal representation, they must submit the applicant's birth certificate, in original or certified copy;
  3. If the applicant is the child of the spouse, partner, or equivalent of a foreign national with Permanent Resident status, they must submit:
    - The applicant's birth certificate, in original or certified copy; and
    - A marriage certificate or document proving the cohabitation or equivalent relationship with the foreign national with Permanent Resident Status, in accordance with the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was performed, in original or certified copy; or
  4. If the applicant is the sibling of a foreign national with Permanent Resident Status, provided the applicant is a child or adolescent and is unmarried or legally incapacitated and under their guardian's legal representation, they must submit the original or a certified copy of the applicant's and their sibling's birth certificates.

This visa allows permanent residency in Mexico without permission to engage in paid employment.

Who is it for?
Foreign nationals who receive a pension or retirement income from outside Mexico and who will use that income to live in Mexico.

 


Requirements

  1. Valid passport (original + simple copy).
  2. Visa application form:(PDF anexo)
  3. One recent passport-size photograph, colour, white background, no glasses (not older than 30 days).
  4. If you are not a Belgian national: Provide the original and a simple copy of the document proving legal stay in Belgium (visa or residence permit).
  5. To prove that you are a pensioner or retiree with sufficient financial resources, you must provide the following documentation:
    -Original or digitally certified electronic document showing proof of investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance equivalent to forty-five thousand eight hundred and fifty days days in UMA (approximately €256,127, depending on the exchange rate on the date of application), for the last twelve months, or
    -Original documents proving you have a pension with a monthly income, free of taxes, exceeding the equivalent of one thousand one hundred and forty days in UMA (approximately €6,370 depending on the exchange rate on the date of application), for the last six months.

A visa granted to a foreign national who intends to enter Mexico for a stay of more than 180 days and up to 4 years with an authorization by the National Institute of Migration.

 


Who is this for?

· Foreign nationals who will travel to Mexico because they have a pre-authorized job offer with an authorization letter (NUT) issued by the National Institute of Migration (INM), and whose stay will be longer than 180 days and up to 4 years.

· Foreign nationals who will travel to Mexico because they have a pre-authorized family unity application with an authorization letter (NUT) issued by the National Institute of Migration (INM), and whose stay will be longer than 180 days and up to 4 years.

 


Requirements

1. Valid passport (original + simple copy).

2. Visa application form:(PDF anexo)

3. One recent passport-size photograph, colour, white background, no glasses (not older than 30 days).

4. If you are not a Belgian national: Provide the original and a simple copy of the document proving legal stay in Belgium (visa or residence permit).

5. Copy of the visa authorization document (NUT) issued by the National Migration Institute (INM).

6. In case of a pre-authorized job offer:
- Copy of the job offer, which specifies the salary and the job functions.
- Copy of the registration of the employer at the National Institute of Migration.
- Copy of the ID of the future employer or legal representative of the company or organization.

7. In case of family unity:
- Copy of the ID of the Mexican person or the Resident card of the foreign person that requested the visa for the family member(s).
- Copy of the document that proves the family link: birth certificate, marriage certificate, common-law partner, or equivalent figure.
