1. Complete visa application form, which can be downloaded here . Please include the country of birth when completing the “place of birth” question.
2. Current diplomatic or official passport.
3. One passport size photograph with white background and visible facial traits (i.e. the hair not to cover the face).
4. A Verbal Note stating the purpose, duration of the trip (including number of entries intended), name, date of birth and passport number of the person who is traveling on an official/diplomatic passport. The Verbal Note must be issued by either the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade/Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country that issued the diplomatic/official passport, their Embassy/High Commission in Australia or the International Organization that issued the document (for Laissez-Passer).

1. Deliver all the required documents to the Embassy (14 Perth Avenue, Yarralumla, ACT 2600). The visa application must have the passport size photo affixed to it.
2. The applicant him/herself does not need to personally come to the embassy. However, the official passport, along with the visa application, the photograph and original verbal note have to be delivered to the embassy.
3. The visa will be processed and ready for collection within the following 5 business days.

• Official/Diplomatic visas are cost exempt
• Diplomatic/Official visas are issued as promptly as possible. However, it is recommended that the visa application is submitted with at least one week of anticipation from the intended travel date.
• The Embassy can only grant diplomatic/official visas for up to 3 months. If a visa for a longer period of time is required, the processing time may increase as the request must be approved by the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs.

Unlike ordinary passports, diplomatic/official passports that need a Mexican visa, cannot use a valid multiple entry US visa to enter Mexico.

Public servants that will travel to Mexico on official business, but only hold an ordinary passport, must comply with the same requirements as people travelling as visitors. You can learn the requirements here .

Public officers who have been newly appointed to a posting in Mexico must follow the same steps described above, however, the processing time may take longer, as these visas can only be authorised by the General Direction of Protocol of the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs.
