3. The Embassy’s Mission
An embassy is a diplomatic mission that represents a country abroad, promoting one’s interests, assisting its citizens, strengthening economic ties, and encouraging cultural exchange.
To your left is the Consular Section, which serves both Mexicans living in Australia and foreigners interested in visiting or working in Mexico. Around 9,000 Mexicans live in Australia, forming our largest community in the Asia-Pacific region.
Mexico and Australia share values such as democracy, human rights, climate action, and respect for international law, and collaborate through agreements in areas like First Nations and scientific cooperation.
Throughout the Embassy, you’ll find artifacts donated by the National Museum of Anthropology, representing Maya, Mixtec, Zapotec, and Aztec cultures, crafted from clay, wood, and precious metals.
