We are now at the stern (the rear of the ship), also called the “poop deck.” Here we find the Mizzenmast, the shortest mast (at 40 meters), with 5 fore-and-aft sails, two of which are different than all the rest. The mizzenmast is very important as it houses the ship’s control system and the bridge, where all the navigation and safety instruments are located.
At the back of the ship, you will find the emergency steering system along with a magnetic compass. The national Mexican flag is also flown here.
Now, we will move toward the interior of the ship.
