About the Mexican Passport

The Mexican passport is an official identity and travel document issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) to Mexican nationals. It serves as proof of nationality and identity, enabling holders to travel internationally and request entry from foreign authorities.

Appointments

First-Time Applicants

1. Proof of Mexican Nationality
Submit the original of one of the following:

• Birth certificate (indicating municipality and state of birth, e.g., "Cuernavaca, Morelos").

• Certificate/Declaration of Mexican Nationality.

• Letter of Naturalization.

• Valid High-Security Consular Card.

2. Proof of Identity
Submit the original of one of the following (must match the name on your nationality document):

• Valid High-Security Consular Card.

• Voting Card (issued by INE).

• National Military Service ID.

• Professional License/Degree.

Passport Renewal

• Submit your current passport for renewal.

• For minors, follow the requirements in the "Minors" section below.

• If your passport lacks your full place of birth (municipality/state), provide a certified copy of your birth certificate.

• If the passport has restrictions (e.g., "NOT EXCHANGEABLE"), submit full documentation as a first-time applicant.

Lost or Stolen Passports
File a police report in your city of residence and submit it with other first-time application requirements.

Passports for Minors (Under 18)

1. Parental Requirements

• Both parents (or legal guardians) must appear in person with the minor.

• Submit the minor’s birth certificate to prove parentage.

2. Proof of Nationality
Submit the original of one of the following:

• Birth Certificate.

• Certificate/Letter of Mexican Nationality.

• High-Security Consular Card.

3. Proof of Identity for the Minor
Submit the original of one of the following:

• Foreign passport.

• School certificate/report card (with photo and official seal).

• Saudi residency card (for residents of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, or Yemen).

• For children under 7: Medical certificate with photo (issued by a local doctor/clinic).

4. Parental Consent

• Complete and sign the OP-7 Authorization Form.

• Parents must present valid photo ID (passport, High-Security Consular Card, or INE Voting Card).

If Parents Are Abroad

• Absent parents must visit the nearest Mexican Embassy/Consulate or SRE office in Mexico to sign the OP-7 form.

Validity, Fees, and Processing

Validity Periods
Passports are issued for 1, 3, 6, or 10 years.

Fees

• Fees are set in USD but paid in Saudi Riyals (SAR).

Delivery Time

• After submitting biometrics at your appointment, allow 6 weeks for processing and delivery.

Spouse’s Last Name

• Passports display the applicant’s birth surnames.

• To add a spouse’s surname, submit the original marriage certificate:

  • If married in Mexico/Saudi Arabia: Original document suffices.

  • If married elsewhere: Apostilled/legalized certificate + Spanish translation by a certified translator.
