The Embassy of Mexico in Kenya can only legalize official documents issued in Kenya, Burundi, Comoros, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania and Uganda. If your document was issued in another country, kindly contact the Mexican Embassy accredited to the country where the document was issued.

Herewith you will find the steps that need to be taken for the legalization process:
1. First, you must obtain a certified copy of the original document. That means that a copy of the document is sealed and signed as a true copy by the issuing authority.

2. Then you must take the document to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where it was issued. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will then authenticate the seals and signatures of the issuing authority and stamp their own seal and signature on them.

3. Once you have this document with the previous seals and signatures, please send us a scanned copy in PDF format to Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam. Necesita tener JavaScript habilitado para poder verlo. to make sure that you have the right stamps and signatures on them.

4. After we check the document, you will have to pay at the bank the legalization fee ($ 53.00 USD per document). We will let you know the banking details for payment once we receive the scanned copy of your document.

5. Once you have paid the legalization fee, you may bring or send the document together with the payment receipt. The Embassy then authenticates the signature and seals of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by attaching a certificate of legalization on the document for its use in Mexico.

Note of advice: You will need a certified translation of each document by a certified translator in order to present the documents before Mexican authorities. You may be able to do that in Mexico. The Embassy does not translate documents.
